01 - In a small saucepan, combine milk, brown sugar or maple syrup, and all spices. Heat gently over medium-low, whisking, until hot but not boiling, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
02 - Brew espresso or strong coffee and pour evenly into two large mugs.
03 - Froth the heated milk mixture using a milk frother or by whisking vigorously until foam forms.
04 - Pour spiced milk over coffee in each mug, holding back foam with a spoon. Then, spoon the foam on top.
05 - Top with whipped cream and dust with cinnamon or nutmeg if desired. Serve immediately.
